Getting Started
Where to begin:
Even if you have practiced other styles of yoga, the Introductory Series is a great way to learn correct alignment, safe modifications, and the sequencing of Power Vinyasa Yoga. Our Basic Power Vinyasa class is a great option for those students who have had some exposure to the vinyasa/power vinyasa yoga.
What to wear:
Cool, comfortable, breathable clothing is recommended since the room is heated. Form-fitting clothing is helpful for the instructors to see joints and limbs as you practice.
Please come to yoga with an empty stomach, or have a very light snack or fruit juice for quick energy before class.
What to bring:
Please bring a yoga mat, water and a hand towel. Yogabliss supplies blocks, straps, blankets, and eye pillows for your practice. A variety of mats are available for purchase in the store or you are welcome to rent one for $3. An open mind and an open heart will greatly enhance your experience!
What you will learn:
The daytime Introductory Series meets twice a week for 4 weeks. The evening Introductory Series meets once a week for 6 weeks. This series is a wonderful introduction to the foundational aspects of Power Vinyasa Yoga. We offer time for questions, demonstrations and discussion as you learn the yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breath), and yoga philosophy. During each class your instructor will give hands-on adjustments and offer modifications to poses based on each students abilities. The introductory series can be repeated indefinitely and is intended to prepare the student to move on to our Basic/Power Vinyasa and Vinyasa classes.
The Basic Power Vinyasa class is perfect for the student that is already familiar with the basic postures and who desires an opportunity for a straight forward practice. This class focuses on the foundational poses and sequencing taught in the Introductory Series.
Classes listed as “all-levels” integrate a slightly faster-paced “flow” of postures and breath using creative sequencing and variations. Modifications are always offered as the practice is truly taught as a multi-level class. Students are encouraged to practice at the level that is appropriate for them…this is an energizing practice for all yogi’s.
